Hi All,
I'm Tony, a young 68 and have had a triban road bike for 3 years, se500, and it got me into cycling and recently upgraded to a PlanetX carbon bike.... sorry Triban.
I am looking to buy a Triban hybrid bike because I live near the Trans Pennine trail and enjoying going off on 70km rides either to Penistone if I go west or Selby if I go east on my now too heavy Trek 7.2. Anyway I'm stuck between getting the 540 or 520 flatbar bike but erring towards the 10gear 540.
Pleased to meet you all. Tony

Welcome on board. Congrats on getting into cycling at such a young age! Thanks Paulinblack, Let's hope we can all stay young. I have gained a lot of pleasure from cycling and managed a few run outs with a cycle group in Spain.

A warm welcome Tony, good to have you on board. I'm convinced our two wheeled friends keep us young at heart!

Always good to know there are cyclists older than me☺. The oldest regular at my usual café is 86. Personally I would pay the extra to get the 540 Tiagra. If you run out of gears the 11-32 cassette is a useful option.

If you run out of gears the 11-32 cassette is a useful option. But the 520 is a triple, so more options if running out of gears is a concern. If using it as a second bike for trails and paths then I'd say save the money and go for the 520. The carbon bike covers you for fast road use.
