I remember turning up to my first audax and being slightly intimidated by the array of bikes on show at the start. My humble red T3 looked out of place. Now, while audax bikes might not be the most fashionable lightweight sculpted aero carbon machine. Underneath the clutter of bags, routesheets, wiring and mudflaps you will see handbuilt wheels, high spec steel, sleek brushed titanium, recumbents and tandems.
In such exalted company, my humble T3 always gets the bulk of the attention and compliments. Yesterday was no exception... at am info control, with a gathering of classy steeds, yet again the compliments flowed.
Audax riders know about bikes; they ain't interested in fashion, they appreciate comfort, reliability and eating miles. On every audax I've been on I've had to blush while my T3 gets the love.
Be proud while out on your btwin. You chose well.

Definitely something iconic about the red T3. Can't say my white T3A has ever suffered from such excessive attention. Although to be honest, it's coming out of the back of its 4th winter of commuting, and it shows...

My red T3 will always have a place in my riding heart. It has been used by my lad over the last couple of years. He doesn't ride it that often, which I'm not exactly complaining about as it's not getting hammered, and as he drives to and from work at a local hospital at all sorts of unsocial hours. It's set up for him back on the stock wheels as he's a lot lighter than I am, and he can just jump on it for a ride out with his old man, or even for a solo effort when he wants to work off some steam. He's off to uni this Autumn in a pretty hilly city and is unlikely to be able to take a car, so we had a discussion about whether he would take a bike with him while we were both out there on his interview day. "With all these hills around the uni you'll want to take your old Carrera hybrid" says I, wondering what the response would be. "Yeah, I think you're right", says he, not noticing the look of relief on my face. I destroyed the hub on the rear wheel of the hybrid riding part of the South Downs Way last year and I still have to sort out a replacement, but I'd much rather that than run the risk that the T3 ends up getting pinched by some ne'er do well. I think it might then be high time to treat the old girl to a strip down and some upgrades, after sourcing some more parts to supplement some very welcome donations that have been made by extremely kind BROC southern section members!

No, he's not off to Sheffield, but that would certainly fit the description!
