Usually I live in Germany for last few years but I'm sometimes in England to visit family and friends etc, so I wanted a bike here to run around town so I bought a Btwin Elops 300 since I'll only use it a few weeks a year and to go around town so I thought it'd be fine and I'll keep it at a relatives place.
I had it delivered yesterday and appears DHL gave it a knock in transit (little dent in the side) was going down a hill, changed gears and the bloody derailleur made a huge crack and appears to have completely broken at a strange angle and also tilting inwards towards the spokes of the wheel.
I'm in the middle of nowhere as well about 2 hours on a train from the nearest Decathlon store, and of course the dent in the side of the box and the small hole in the other side means I don't think the box is going to be a good way to return the bike back to Decathlon not to mention expensive.
Does anyone know if the elops 300 has a replaceable hangar? It appears to be well broken, also is there anything Decathlon can actually do about this when the box is broken as well? Can they supply another box? Can I even prove that the derailleur broke because of a defect or damage in transit?
This is a complete nightmare, even before the 6.5km walk home tonight when the thing broke in the pouring rain!
