Morning all, I've owned two-wheelers on and off throughout my life (admittedly some had an engine) but at the age of 40 and several stone overweight I decided after a gap of a decade to start cycling again. As a student nurse, commuting to uni and hospitals easily and without the hassle of parking was an added bonus. At 6'4 and a shade under 22st I needed something fairly robust so went for an Apollo Belmont hybrid, which I got in new condition from eBay for Β£77. It's served me very well but having shed 4st I feel I can make the most of an upgrade to a road bike. I pick up my brand new 520 later this morning .

I'd imagine you won't be short of cycling clubs and groups in Lancashire if you want company when riding, I found out about my local group from my local bike shop. It really helped to keep me motivated to get out there and ride. I'm sure you'll have a great time on the bike, and this forum has a great deal of info on our bikes, as well as very knowledgeable and active members.

Thanks for the welcome! I've just picked the 520 up from Decathlon Bolton. Excellent customer service throughout, I'm really impressed. Check your wheels for buckles. My mate received one through the post and it has a badly buckled wheel. They exchanged it at Bolton a few days ago and the one offered to him also had a buckled wheel. He went away happy though as the bike was spot on after they had fettled everything.

First thing I checked...! They did the pre-sale checks in front of me, everything was spot-on.

Hello and a warm welcome from a fellow Scot, good to have you on board. Your choice of cycling to get fit and commute is 10 out of 10 stuff. I'm sure the 520 will pleasantly enhance the experience, enjoy!
