Been to the store and tried one out. Obviously a quality ride. Only thing was because of the sale reduction they only had the small size in stock. I've looked up the size guide and 5ft 9in and an inside leg measurement of 30ins seems to put me borderline between small and medium. Small seemed reasonably comfortable enough (for someone buying their first road bike) but obviously frustrating that there's not a medium to try out as well and it doesn't seem like there's any of the latter left anywhere. Just wondering if I'd notice a huge amount of difference. Not sure whether to grab one now while the price is decent or wait for new stock to come in first.

hi @nightowl . We will all advise if you are in any doubt at all, to take the smaller option... making a small bike bigger isn't a problem (bigger stem etc), but a big one smaller starts to get a real problem. Smaller also lets you get more aero etc. You have short legs (especially for your height - I have longer and am a fair bit shorter [I'm all leg, should be a supermodel ]) so smaller is probably better. I think they are cheap because they are being replaced, so won't come back into stock.

If you are flexible and after a 'racey' fit then you could put a longer stem on. Counter intuitively I'd say if you have short legs a larger frame is better (provided you still have standover clearance) as your longer body will suit the longer higher reach to the bars. The new model is the 900af upgraded with Aksium wheels and 105 chainset out feb/march (we've had 1 or 2 in already) You could try a 720af for size as they're the same frame. If you're comfortable on the small though, buy it, you can't go wrong at the current price, stems are cheap.

I'm 6'1 and have a 31" inseam and ride a Medium 700 AF. Originally I had a Large but that was way too big, I could barely stand over the top tube despite the bike size matching my height. For that reason I'd suggest going with the size that comes closest to your leg measurement, and getting a bigger stem. They swapped my stem for free in-store when I exchanged the L for a M.

I've just checked the store stock levels throughout the country on the medium size. Not many left now. Selling like hot cakes.

Went back to the store and tried it again. Think I will go with the small size. Wondering if I'm just looking at it and thinking it's small because it's a first road bike and I'm more used to mountain bikes which are a bit more chunky.

Is the wheel size any different on the small frame? No, B'twin have moved away from putting 650c wheels on the smaller sizes, the Triban 500/se was the last to use it.

Is the wheel size any different on the small frame? Not sure. All the mediums have sold out. There are still a few medium in stock in stores around the country. You can search around the stores using the Decathlon website Wandsworth, Stevenage, Edinburgh and Belfast last time I checked.

Went and got the small size at Surrey Quays today. Guy in the bike shop suggested putting a slightly longer stem on it so I went along with that.
