I'm trying to order some clothing from the Decathlon website and struggling to sort out the sizing. Up until today the "how to chose the right size" link on the home page took me to the sales page. Today it contains a cut and paste jobbie of a page I found by using a google search. The sizing charts are confusing and hard to read due to the cut and paste job. All pretty amateurish. www.decathlon.co.uk/size-guide.html - the cut and paste webpage on the UK site www.decathlon.ie/size-guide - the sizing page I found via google which is on the Irish site Decathlon need to get a grip as sizing is important for customers ordering online as stores tend to be poorly stocked and customers have to resort to ordering online. I am wanting to order a down jacket and the sizing I am looking at is either an L or an XL. The sizing chart gives the L as 100-103cm and the XL as 108-113cm. I am a 104cm chest. The L-XL sizing doesn't exist for this product. How do they expect to sell stuff online when the customer is left to flip a coin on sizing? Lastly.... I put the X-Light jacket in my basket and chose to have it delivered to my local ASDA. I then continued to shop and added further online items and went to checkout. The collection point had been automatically changed to Bolton Decathlon without it being highlighted. I love shopping at Decathlon, the products are great and good value but my online shopping experience with Decathlon is very poor indeed. Soz for the moan. Anyone else having problems?

I agree the website is pretty poor, thongs are often hard to find, and options etc just flip about.

Well... the down jacket I was looking at has just gone red hot on HUKD which has forced me into a few mouse clicks. If the stuff doesn't fit (which will probably be the case) it is Bolton here we come.
I binned most of my cycling clothes in Panama before the flight home so I also ordered a black 300 jersey at Β£4.99 for the next tour. Colours badly fade in strong sunlight so buying decent gear is just not worth the expense. I did buy an Endura Humvee jersey though in the Chain Reaction sale and at a decent price. Very good quality indeed.

The collection point had been automatically changed to Bolton Decathlon without it being highlighted. A reply from Decathlon regarding the change of delivery method. They are not 100% sure why the system changes things but the dimension limitations for ASDA collections would seem to be the reason. "Regarding your enquiry, the dimensions for ASDA orders are limited, so possibly this is why the system changes the delivery method."

Just called in at Bolton Decathlon to buy some tyres for my lad. I am on my way to Manchester to drop him off at University.
The website shows 8 tyres available in store. Guess how many they had in stock?..... None.
Complete waste of time with that one.
The store's internet is down so all stock levels are inaccurate. The staff member apologised for the inconvenience.
Another online failure for Decathlon. C'est la vie.
I did get some thin fleece glove liners for 99p and a thin fleece skull cap for the same price to use under my helmet. Bargain..!! Oh.... and a climber's quick draw for the carabiners. I'm using them to hang my new ultra lightweight hammock. Cheaper to buy the quick draw rather than separate crabs for what I needed them for.
Tried some Btwin 300 shorts on for touring but the pad at the front ends way too short and is pretty thin.
They had an Ultra 700 on display which looked good at the reduced price.
Tried some ultralight windproof jackets on. The grey one at Β£29.99 was very nice. Sizing is small on everything compared to UK sizing which is normal for Decathlon.

Talking about Decathlon. My mate ordered a Triban 520. He took it out the other day with me on a short ride to Blackpool. The rear wheel is badly buckled, there is a loud speed related noise which sounds like it is coming from the joint on the rim of the rear wheel and a slight similar noise from the front wheel. One of the brake pads was badly aligned and he had to index the gears properly.
Decathlon said mail it back, so he phoned Bolton and they have agreed to swop it for another and will make sure it in good nick before it leaves the shop. It means a long trip but at least he will be able to check it out before he takes it home.

More problems with ordering from The Decathlon website. I thought I would try again to order two tyres (Resist 5 700 x 25). They were showing plenty in stock and as I was buying a Triban 520 I placed the order for pick up from Manchester Eastlands. Did I manage to get them this time? Did I eckers like. I received a phone call en route to Manchester on Friday saying the tyres were out of stock along with an apology. I explained what happened last time out at Bolton and the problem they were having with the internet connection and stock updates. The guy said that sounded like the problems they were having at Eastlands. So that is two stores now showing stock but sadly lacking the goods required. Must do better. Onto the bike.... I popped into Eastlands on Friday to say I would probably need an 80mm stem fitting to the Triban 520. They didn't have any new ones on the shelf but had one at the bottom of the workshop drawer. When I went to pick it up on Sunday they had actually already fitted it, so no sizing up of the misses beforehand to see if she actually needed it. I said it might need flipping so the guy checked and it had been fitted already flipped which I thought to be a bit unusual. I was charged full price for the bottom of the drawer stem. The bike was handed over, I paid the bill and was wished a good day. No explanation of the warranty or the first free service between 3 and 6 months so I had to ask to make sure. I wasn't sure if it had had the pre sale checks done either so spun both wheels to make sure they were straight and tried the brakes. The front was perfect but the back was grabbing on one side before the other. I didn't say owt as I could sort that out at home. The misses didn't want to test ride it when I asked her so it is fingers crossed on the gear indexing. The staff were nice and friendly but to be honest the bike sale procedure was pretty poor. On a positive note, Decathlon get full marks for value for money with this Triban 520. A great bike for the money.

I had a go at ordering online with click and collect and they sent me the wrong stuff then said it was out of stock. I got a Β£10 loyalty voucher for my troubles and 2 wasted trips to Bolton click and collect.
I ordered again once the item was back in stock and this time my order was correct. Mistakes happen but it's the way a company deals with them that shows wether they are reputable or not. In my mind Decathlon put things right so I've no problem going back even if they stuff up again. I think one look at how much money I had spent with them made them want to retain my custom.

I half expected to be let down with the tyres erictherat so I didn't lose any sleep about it. I think as long as customers know what to expect and are clued up enough with the possible shortcomings then problems can be sorted. I am just posting my experiences to make sure people are clued up on things. How many customers have walked out with a bike not knowing that they can return for a free service? Personally I love a visit to Decathlon and have spent a lot of money in the stores. They just need to pull their socks up at times.

Reading decathlon stock on the website is total fiction too.
