I'm looking at getting a BTwin in the near future, a new Cyclist and 56 years old. Being old I must have value for money, can't stand all this Bah Humbug . The BTwin holds some great value just not fancied by all the Pinarello ponies. im after a road bike, can spend anything up to 2 grand but prefer to spend 1p. Tighter than cramp I am . I've only just made up my mind so don't know the range properly. It will be my second bike as I bought a Cad10 in the summer secondhand, 18 months old and done 5 rides and parked up. I got it for Β£500. I am currently doing 10 mile rides and you you need a bit of background. I have Type 1 Diabetes and don't trust all the nugget that goes with it, I also have a couple of rugby injuries and on a bike is all I can manage. Can't walk/run to well and the gym bores me to death. so that's it in a nutshell, apart from I live in Warrington, UK. Looking forward to all the advice and a good craic. Mick.

In that situation I'd have a think what you want to do with it, what riding you'll be doing. almost the whole range is in budget. I guess to better a Caad10, you'll be looking at an Ultra.

What's up with the caad 10? Or what are you looking for in a new bike that it doesn't do?

The Cad is a superb bike, but it just lacks something when I'm on it or been on it. Something isn't there, I think I may have gone to far with the purchase and bought something speedier than needed. And now looking for something that I can't be told, something that I feel when riding.

If the chassis is good, maybe the engine needs some tuning. As you don't like wasting money, I'll roll out the old line..."don't buy upgrades, ride up grades." The biggest improvement you can make to the performance is your fitness.

I agree entirely mate, but the Diabetes throws in a sharp intake of breath at that. I'm wondering if it's fear from that. It's not plain sailing that's for sure.

Hi mick like eric it's Mr in front of my name not Dr. I'd always advise any medical issues directed to the GP. I do hear you loud and clear though on riding a bike that you feel comfortable with though, makes perfect sense! At 56 my friend you are by no means the oldest member of the gang, trust me I know that for sure . It's been my experience that any fear is helped when it's replaced with hope. I wish you well and hope to hear how things pan out as you start to enjoy the journey.

The Caad 10 has a fairly racy geometry, maybe worth getting a professional bike fit and seeing if you can get your position set up more comfortably.
