My phone somehow managed to stop and save my Strava track half way through the ride today while in a supermarket so I had to start a new one. I uploaded both tracks to Strava at the end of the ride but then looked around for a solution to join the GPS track (in TCX). I downloaded the two activities to my PC first. There is a website here that I used and it worked a treat to join the two and then automatically uploaded the end result to Strava. gotoes.org/strava/index.phpOnce uploaded, I deleted the original two activities and Strava automatically adjusted the week's mileage to reflect this.

easiest way, while maintaining all your data, is to use notepad on TCX files!
gab all of the 2nd half from the first <lap> tag (near the top) to the last </lap> tag (very near the bottom) and paste it into the end of the first (after it's last </lap> tag).
I have to do it quite a lot.

IpBike allows you to join rides on an Android device after recording them. I frequently split my rides on club outings then join them all back together. I haven't used the Strava Android thing for over 2 years since it doesn't display what I want on a ride which is detailed stats from all my sensors and/or a GPX track for sportives and adventures.

Not done GPX for a while, if I remember, the data were not stored inside a single outer tag in GPX, so the likes of HR and cadence were in a separate section from position.

I only worry about position anyway so gpx is fine for me

The battery on the 500 wasn't 100% when I went out, hence it ran out partway through a ride. And brain is too mush to manually combine the 500 file and the 200 file.
So I used Gotoes per Dave suggestion, and hurrah it works fine.
