Someone once spent a lot of time creating the technical section of this forum. The information you want is here
Bikes don't tend to ride heavy but riders do.

Weight of bikes gets way too much attention. Eat one less fork of your meals everyday and you'll save much more weight than going from an entry level road bike to a 4kg superbike in a year.

Was a marathon runner until i had a serious accident at work on my achilles, two ops later now fixed, Lots of natural protein for muscles, loads of hill sprints to build upper thighs, average 23 over a 55 / 60 mile rides, you don't need carbon bikes to get the speed, one of our group rides a s/hand triban 3 and has finished on podiums on many occasions, hmmph! Oh and my other half works for a health food company and gets protein bars etc... with her big discount, also Lenny and Larry protein cookies yumm, fuel and hydration is the key, you burn more when it is cold.

23 mph group 1 in our ride outs, we have 7 groups, we avg every week 20- 24 mph, slowed a bit now due to wet and leaves, went with gp 6 one week too slow at 16 mph.

Oh I am early fifties and 9st 5 and avg 23 mph on Btwin sport1 as standard. then you are worrying about 3% of the total weight, and should stop that and worry about the aerodynamics - at that speed you'dd be better on a heavier bike that's more aero. Look at: - aero profiled bars - as narrow as your shoulders will allow. - aero chainsets - a skinsuit - aero lid - deep section wheels. - really minimising the exposed cables.

For group riding then aerodynamics is not that important until it's your turn on the front and weight isn't much of an issue unless your regular routes have plenty of climbing. We have a saying that goes something like - If it ain't on Strava then it didn't happen. Look forward to you putting us all to shame and nice score on the Ultra

Warm welcome to the BTwin clan dazzlin and great catch on the ultra. Look forward to hearing more about your group rides. Is it a serious chaingang or just very gentlemanly sharing of the work the front?
