took the wee fellah out on the cycle network today primarily to muck about with the cleats on the new shoes, get the position right etc. any way, god bless 'im, 5 miles the wee one did, on a balance bike, just kept going and going met a load of tandemers on the way, i wish i had taken a few photos of them, never seen so many at once, big machines - dont fancy one of them going up the Val D'Isere anyway stopped for a wee rester before the return journey on his favourite bridge, hes never been on it, only under it so he is well chuffed and the real point is - hes riding a nice red BTWIN Attachment Deleted

What are the roads like around there? That one in the picture looks like it's just been re-done. I'd kill for some smooth re-tarmacked roads for commute to work. Swerving pot holes and broken glass is only fun the first 10 seconds.

Swerving pot holes and broken glass is only fun the first 10 seconds. the bridge we are on is about 12 years old, it is decent tarmac on the bridge which is about 30m long, either side however is a plethora of smashed bottles, needles, dog nugget, chavs fixing their scooters that they arent old enough to ride on the roads, the housing scheme behind the wee fellah is the housing scheme referred to in trainspotting - a real 5hytehole, luckily during daylight hours it is pretty quiet dont be deceived, and certainly dont be deceived by cycling actives article on edinburgh - it is a pothole ridden world heritage site

"hug a hoodie"? cycling paths to work are ridden with crap. there was a smashed tv in the way yesterday; CRT not LCD! pebbles, dirt and broken bottles everywhere. why broken bottles I do not know as its near enough past industrial estates - no pubs or clubs. A simple sweep once a month would make me happy. *insert rant here about waste of my taxes*
