3 years ago I paid somebody not a lot of money for 4 crates of bike parts which I was assured was more than enough to make a complete bike. What do you reckon to it now?

Not a clue about the stunning bike but the saddle looks very similar the B17 Special Flyer fitted to my Dawes Galaxy.

Very nice. Reminds me a bit of one these I owned many moons ago. Mine was blue though.

My first ever bike was one of these. It was ex Post Office and yes it was RED. I tarted it up with alloy mudguards, clip on handlebars, skinny saddle, noisy exhaust and polished the cylinder head to improve gas flow. It still would not do more than 55 mph though. Apologies for hijacking Rocket's thread. There are plenty more bikes on my list.

Is it btwin's attempt and getting into the market for bikes with hidden motors?

No wonder it wouldn't do more than 55! Polishing the cylinder head on a 2-stroke does nothing for gas flow as it has no valves. Fiddling with the ports is the way to make power on one of these.

Well that's what I meant to say. I didn't want to get too technical. I shaved a bit off the head to raise the compression ratio and polished the ports. Having only three gears didn't help matters. It was all a useful learning experience for a 16 year old. Not many kids nowadays have that sort of opportunity or interest. Probably why so many people struggle with simple bike maintenance.

V-Twin fan myself, with Parallel a close second - none of this inline four meddling. Lovely machine.
