Hello, Great to find this site! Well i've been keen for a while to get into road cycling, mainly for fitness but, also very envious of people who go on 80+ mile rides! "could i do that?" i thought. so i did some research into an entry level road bike, and the one that kept coming up was the Btwin 500se. Great reviews and price, so i took the plunge. Now, my only real cycling was done as a kid about 20 years ago, on my old drop-handle Peugeot. So when unboxed my new Btwin i was already hooked! it looked amazing! Gears now up on the break lever! all new to me. I remember having to reach done to the frame to change gear! So next morning at 5:15, Wife and kids still asleep, i head out. This is also my lycra debut. I must say it was wonderful! the speed, even on my fairly flat beginners route is fantastic! It feels very steady too. i've done the very occasional mtn-bike ride in the last 10 years or so, but this is totally different. That was a few weeks ago, i'm still going out early to avoid too much traffic while i get into the swing of it, but this will become an obsession of mine! beginning to up my mileage now to about 15 per ride, so baby steps at the mo. Also looking forward to tacking some Devon hills soon!

Its a great way to get hooked... not sure I could handle 5:15 am though... there's definitely only one 5:15 a day in my world.

Like you I can still recall the older models, still have a few but they don't get out much these days. Sure your mileage and enjoyment will grow hand in hand. All the best.
