Hi All.
I'm thinking of getting some mudguards for the Triban but wondered if it's difficult to put them on. I'm not bike savvy and most things I do seem to go t@ts up!!!
Any advice gratefully received,

Crud Roadracer 2s are very easy to fit and work well when on.

My first set of Cruds are on my bike for the 3rd year and going strong, they get my vote.

That's good going if they have survived 30,000 miles but pretty poor if they only survived 3,000. Age is no indicator of use when reviewing kit.

For what looks like flimsy plastic I think 3 years is great. I do nowhere near your mileage Rocket, I don't think my cruds mileage have covered anywhere near 3000 miles, maybe half that. Saying that, the mileage doesn't show the 3 years of short harsh weather riding, being battered when in the back of a car, being mistreated when parked up or protecting the bike when it gets blown over.

Another vote for the Crud Roadracer 2's here as well. After all the rain we had in November I decided to invest in some and my local Halfords price matched so picked them up for Β£16.50. My mechanical skills aren't up to much either but following the how-to youtube video (featuring the bloke from the West country) I didn't have too many problems.
Well pleased with them so far and a worthwhile investment.

I got giant defy mudguards. bit of a fiddle to set up, but work well. they have survived a winter of <chained to lamppost> commuting unscathed.
plenty of threads on the board debating relative merits.

My cruds have done about 5000 miles now, I broke the extension bits,a nd had to cobble other bits on, but they still work just fine.

another vote for the Cruds but watch if you have 25's, they wont fit on my T500, not sure what model you have?

Having said that the Cruds are easy to fit, they're not the strongest. Managed to snap the back one in half this evening. I'll replace it because they're the only ones I can get that fit without rubbing.
Just checked online and both Wiggle and Halfords have these for around Β£16.50.

My first set of Raceblade XL's lasted about 5 months before the front guard snapped. Second set of Raceblade PRO XL's I have only recently fitted...however due to the new fitting mechanism they are a bit less robust and a bit more rickety...
However as I have an Alur and direct mount brakes, I have very little choice of guards!!!

I have been happy with my Cruds this winter. They were not difficult to fit to the T3 and have made big difference to keeping the bike and rider clean and dry. They are more resilient than they look and have withstood being dragged in and out of the car. I find all mudguards aesthetically distasteful but I have done a lot more riding this winter as a result of having them. I can't wait to get back on No 1 bike though.

One good thing about the Cruds is that the rear one wraps right round the wheel giving a lot of protection to the front mech, etc

I originally had mk2 cruds and they didn't last long. They were forever breaking during normal use. I found them fiddly to fit and noisy due to the flimsy pads which keep it off the rim wearing easily. Rear flap broke 3 times and in the end I got fed up of repairing it. Eventually it jettisoned during a fast descent and they swiftly went in the bin. Upgraded to a set of SKS chromo plastics for only a few pounds more than the cruds. 2 years on they are as good as new and the stainless fittings and rods have not tarnished at all. You pays your money......
