Hello folks.
I'm looking to build my first bike from scratch. I would like to get a nice aluminum frame with carbon forks but I don't know where to look. Do you guys have any recommendations?
For components I'm thinking either 5800 pr 4700 when it's available with someavic wheels.
Looking forward to your opinions
Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestion. I already have a btwin fit 3. But I would like to build a bike myself. Although that triban is very cheap for sure.

Yeah, you are looking at £150 for the wheels and £300 for the groupset. Very unlikely you can find a comparable frame + forks for £150. I can understand you wanting to build up your own bike though. I have upgraded my Triban 3A to a similar spec to this and it cost a lot more than if I had bought a bike like the 540 to start with. Still has been enjoyable to upgrade little by little and there is the satisfaction that I have done the work myself.

I saw an alluminum frame in dhgate for 200 plus 180 for the 4700 on ebay plus chain cassette wheels cables bars I would say I can get pretty close to btwins price. Given that the mavics would be alloy I don't mind buyin em second hand

What's wrong with your Fit3 frame? spend the money you'd save not buying the Dolan frame (nothing against the Dolan) on wheels and build it up as a road bike?

it has 650c wheels sadly.
These are the parts so far: Dolan frame/fork/seatpost -- 200 Mavik aksium one -- 111 full groupset 5800 (incl. cables) --- 288 FSA Omega compact HB -- 24 stem -- already have extra one specialized power comp saddle -- already have it 2x rubiuno pro 700x25c 150tpi -- 38 deca tube set -- 2 deca bar tape -- 5
Total -- 668 (these prices are with discounts and what not)
That is comparable with the price of the 540 but without the crappy prowheel crank and with marginally better tires and better handlebars (imo).

It will be a cool bike for sure, but there will always be good deals that will be better in some way. I bought a Ultra 700AF brand new from Flybay(done 10 miles) for £550. also bikes like www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/radon-r1-4.0-239502/wg_id-6668 will give full 11speed 105 and an 8kg over all bike for £650ish

Yeah, but you are not building it yourself! Which is my whole point. I know how to buy a bike but I've never built one.
Anyhow I think I'll have to scratch the project unless I find another frameset. Apparently the reach and stack measurements of Dolan's frames cannot be revealed. I've wasted too much time trying to get customer support to tell me but they refuse. Even chinese sellers are willing to go to the warehouse and do it for me. Ridiculous.
