Just a heads up on Windows 10. It is available for download now and is a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users. I never really got on too well with 8.1 so took the opportunity today to upgrade to Windows 10. Early doors review is that it is far more simple to use with the important features more readily at hand like the start menu. No glitches so far.

Will it make my Strava times faster? Still on XP here since 2001 and on the same high end Pentium 4 I built for it I used to follow IT religiously as it was my job but now I have to buy it myself I don't bother. Next change of OS for me will be to a Linux distro like Ubuntu.

After years and years of watching (and helping as a user) Microsoft bringing in the coin with Windows I can't help wondering if there is a catch here. Conspiracy theories aside, what really freaked me out is that I'd watched the film "Her" the night before hearing about this. The next morning I woke up and put on the radio just to catch the very end of the report about Microsoft giving away the latest release of Windows. If you've seen the film you'll know why that induced a bit of a shiver!

During installation I chose the custom options rather than the standard installation. The standard installation allows Microsoft access to a lot of information about your usage on the PC.

Using windows 8.1 but with Classic Shell ( www.classicshell.net/ ) Can customize windows to your liking including a start menu, think it works with windows 10 as well.

Nearly three years now since I bought my Samsung Chromebook and can honestly say I don't miss Windows one bit.

Yep apple is my thing after soooo many conflicting problems with windows and the whole upgrading issues.
Saying that I went to Microsoft hq for a seminar once and it was erm plush shall we say certainly see where all our money goes.
But now every apple store looks like that. Was in Edinburgh last week and their store was so grand and then super cool inside. I've been seduced by their sleek lines and beautiful machines hmmmm SUCKER!!!!

I'm waiting 6 months or so to iron the bugs out and people to find ways round the microsoft snooping. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of waiting Rob as my laptop is on it's last legs. Had a look through the week will be taking my banker/wife to pick one up over this weekend. Who knows I may even manage to post some photos to the forum...

Now have windows 10 on new laptop from yesterday. it's all a wee bit strange as I've been using Vista for the last 10yrs plus. In it's favour; a lot faster I have a knowhow lesson booked for this coming Thursday which (fingers crossed) should ease the transition. I've asked for the help of someone who, likes a challenge;-)

I installed it on my laptop the other week and generally everything has been fine except for the fact my trackpad drivers don't work which is more than a little infuriating.

installed it on my pc and now it says it needs to be activated and it won't accept my windows 7 key
installed on my tablet and it gets to 96% reboots and restores windows 8.1
Ring Microsoft and they say they have activation problems that they are aware of and try again in 48 hours!!!
