I posted a number of weeks ago that I entered Decathlon Braehead to order the new Ultra 700Af under the Cycle to work scheme, however on arrival I spotted an XL Alur siting there. Upon raising the subject of the Alur, without prompting, a store person contacted the customer who ordered it and who informed that they no longer wanted the item. The Alur was then reserved against me awaiting the £600 voucher from Cycle to Work. (I had been hoping to secure it at the recent further reduced price of £500 and spend the extra £100 on clothing)
Fast forward to this week, during which time I had been emailing the store person on regular basis as to the progress of the voucher, which by the way is taking forever to arrive literally and metaphorically speaking. However, despite my updates I was getting concerned at a lack of response. In the end I contacted a senior member of staff in Glasgow. After a few emails confirmed that the original customer who informed that he no longer wanted the Alur, had indeed changed his mind, come into store and purchased it.
Decathlon were very apologetic about it and have noted a few instances where mistakes were made in their service and what improvements could be made.
With regards the bike, as there no Alur XL’s in my size, after a bit of negotiation I have now been offered the new Ultra 700Af as a replacement with a small cash payment to be made by me to supplement my voucher price.
Even though the £500 Alur and clothing may have been the better deal, I am still very happy to soon be walking away with this year’s model in discount.
Photo’s to be posted soon upon collection

You jammy fecker!!! The ultra looks a cracking bike. You'll have to let us know what it's like. I've not been in the Glasgow store since it moved. Is it much bigger?

Picked up my Ultra 700 this weekend. Was nervous about going from the. T5 triple to the compact. I need not have worried. The lighter frame and better wheels surprised me with the uphill improvement. I couldn't use the top 2 gears due to some chain rub that needed adjustment. Overall a great experience. Plus yet again the customer service at Decathlon Harlow was exceptional

Nice one Fit4fifty.
I only managed the one ride on mine before going on holiday, since returning, I've put in about 150 miles in the past week.
I'm hoping to do a more detailed review pretty soon, but I also experienced the same troubles as you with chain rub and gear selection.
It's a cracking bike that I've found makes you go quicker than what my fitness allows lol
Enjoy!

Another quick ride again. Definitely shaving time off on the hills. Bit of a headwind that slowed me a bit. Still got a bit of clicking on the rear mech. Have to get decathlon to adjust it again. Fronts ok. Just the back. Love this bike.
