Afternoon all, After hours of inspection I cannot fathom what's causing the noise in the video below. Couple of things to know: -it started the day after I took the chain off and cleaned the mechs as I normally do and have done plenty of times in the past. (Could be a co-incidence) -when it's up on the stand, I cannot replicate it -only happens when I'm riding the bike -it can happen whether pedals are turning or not (leading me to believe that it's something to do with the forks? But happens if I ride with no hands and don't put any pressure on the front of the bike) -I thought it may have been crank related but as I said it happens whether I'm pedalling or not. -it's not cleats as it happens if I have normal shoes on -sorry for dark and short video! I filmed this late last night when I was at my wits end! Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq3xnDzVqAg

Have you routed the chain correctly through the rear dรฉrailleur? Sometimes it's easy to misdirect it and that can cause a noise.
Are the wheel bearings okay? When my original wheel bearings went they produced a clicking noise as the wheels went round.

My initial thought was chain routing through rear derailleur as well...but then noise would also happen on stand and would stop when not pedaling.

When my original wheel bearings went they produced a clicking noise as the wheels went round. As Rob said, it would happen when on the stand and would stop when not pedalling. I thought it could be my front wheel bearings but it doesn't happen when up on the stand and spinning the wheel. Also, when the SNAP occurs I feel like I can feel it in my foot, which is why I thought it was crank related, but again, I'd have thought it would a) also occur when up on the stand and b) stop when I stopped pedalling. So baffled but daren't ride it as its annoying (and embarrassing!) as hell and don't want to damage the bike.

Try taking pedals off, regreasing and reinstalling reinstalling as a first easy step but unlikely that if carries on when not pedaling.

After listening to video it's not something daft like a little bit of stick stick or plastic stuck in spokes or chain that is catching on something when wheels turn?

Rear derailleur inner limit needing adjusted as derailleur is rubbing on a spoke every revolution of the wheel?

I had a decal on the front wheel come unstuck and rub against the brake caliper the other day. It was just a little, but enough to catch. It was Easy to spot as it was the front wheel. If it was the back...

Did you find out what it was?
Sounds like a reflector or something silly. Power meter, cadence sensor ,magnet for the sensor,

Urgh thats a loud clunk.
Sureley its got to be someting hitting the wheels if it hapens when you're not spinning. Is there much lateral movement in the wheels? Could be the wheel is getting closer to the frame so a spoke is then hitting the rear derailleur or something??
My stock wheels that came off had lots of lateral movement on the front and i thought the fronts were solid!!

Rear derailleur inner limit needing adjusted as derailleur is rubbing on a spoke every revolution of the wheel? It sounds like that. Fix immediately!

Power meter, cadence sensor ,magnet for the sensor, Not yet, but then I was too busy at the weekend riding the Alur and staring at it lovingly. Might take a closer look at the RD tonight to see if that's the case - but couldn't see this when I looked previously and would think it would happen when it's up on the stand - unless the wheels are flexing a lot!

I adjusted my inner and outer limit of the rear derailleur on a workshop stand. Refitted cable to rear derailleur, indexed gears and went away on a test ride to check gears and had exactly that. Inside of rear derailleur jockey wheel cage rubbing on spokes. Glad you like your Alur.
