Just wondering how much I will spend. Going in for a new saddle to replace the razor-blade that came with the T5, wonder what else might take my fancy!! Any tips on a saddle? My perineum is suffering!!

decent ones are about 35 quid but the btwin saddle is plush and comfy, using it on the turbo with no problems the selle italia sl i think looks the best in there at the moment any others are too chunky for a road bike

Pop in to a "specialized body geometry" dealer if you have one locally. ( specialized the brand - not a specialist )
Have a play with their "assometer" to determine what width of seat you are suited to.
basically there are three main widths of seat 130mm, 143mm and 155mm
It is not always the big guy who needs the wide seat - your sit bone width decides the best seat and wide sit bones are not always on the big rider.

Still haven't changed the seat on my T3 but should, I'm convinced the design came from the Spanish Inquisition.

They normally stock the Selle brand of saddles. Priced in the £30 - £45 range. They have some nice ones there, been looking at the one with the channel down the middle always wondering if its any good. Is the saddle that bad that you have to change it chumbucket?

Leisure lake bikes (one in Wolverhampton) always have numerous saddles is stock. They open from 11 am on sundays. They have Specialize, Charge and others on display. The Charge are at a low of £25 going up. Seen Specialize all the way to £200 and they actually look like blades! My RockRider saddle is two years old and very shinny, this saddle on my T7 is an improvement so I dont see myself changing it for now.

Yes, I can't put up with that standard saddle, it's rough beyond 15 miles!!

Good luck with the replacement. Hope you can get to try it out first. Might need that ass meter thingy that cbrdeano was talking about. Would like to get my ass measured.

Changed to a Rido 2 (£25 ebay) this week. 3 rides, the first of which was a bit ouch, then gave the nose a tip up, and fine since then. Quietly impressed.

Even with padded shorts I find the T5 uncomfortable. Bit reluctant to buy a new saddle though in case it turns out to be nearly as uncomfortable.
Is it really that bad a saddle?

I know my bike is a T7 but I think they both have the same saddle. I have ridden over a hundred miles so far and find it an improvement over my RockRider 8.0. Note well no two bums are the same, the saying here is one man's love is another is another man's poison holds here. Get your bum measured and try some of the specialize saddles.

You mean your "twernt"[/quote] See also :- Barse. I agree that the standard saddle (T3 in this case) is a bit of a ball ache, there's not a lot of give in it. I think I could do with a bit of adjustment on mine though, I find myself trying to get a bit further backwards which makes me think that I'd be better with it tilted up at the front a touch more.
