Since becoming part of the cycling community have your habits changed?
Do you find yourself giving cyclists more room than you used to? Do you check out a cyclists bike whenever you see one out on the road? Have you become accustomed to seeing what the said cyclist is also wearing?
Do you think "ooh, brave fella, " when out in the pouring rain or very cold conditions? Do you ever inwardly critique a cyclists riding style, eg cadence too slow/fast, giving it too much side to side, his pedalling is not rounded enough etc.
Feel free to comment. I'm interested in what the replies could be.

Mr important in your German metal take note! No. Being an elite athlete I don't get enough time to even work out what bike they are on. Not really but females with a peachy bum or big lady lumps might get a second glance. No. I'm usually out on my bike in the same conditions. Yes. They just got dusted and dropped after all.

i don't drive yes yes no. i commute by bike, and see Q1 - with no other option for bad weather, i ride every day. no, but...
sorry to digress...i do always watch other riders closely. i find it fascinating that, despite the essentially identical makeup of bikes, and to produce an identical movement in the crank - every rider is distinct, with a different style. I dont think it is a thing you can critique. everyone is different. and there have been many very successful riders with wierd styles. it is one of the reasons i love sport

I now find myself talking to the misses about them and we give them some encouragement but only between ourselves. There is no way to get that encouragement to the rider your passing. A toot of the horn or an inaudible shout out the car window will only be taken the wrong way by the rider. We need to come up with a certain beep of the horn that acts the same as a Masionic handshake

I think "good lad, rule #9" - but the bad/cold hasn't put me off. And critique.... terribly, mostly mocking the townies sat in a gear spinning out 140rpm to go walking pace, but also the roadies with outsplayed knees and occasionally thinking of the pain of the regulalr sighting of someone who's knees cross perpendicular every stroke.

I'm a big "fan" of the "larger" (he must weight twice what I do) fella round here in full team sky kit and on a Dogma, doing about 23kph around the flats... he looks all wrong on that bike, but I see him regularly and I admire his ability to keep going (even if I want to pinch his bike). Always smiles as I/we pass him.

I'm interested in what the replies could be. Yes, but I always did anyway. I've always been anti-car, and hate driving myself, and cycling has really reinforced this. I am constantly astonished at how addicted to car use the general population seems to be; motoring is horrible, depressing and damaging and it's amazing that so many people choose it unnecessarily over other forms of transport. Oh yes. My wife finds this hilarious, but I do love a spot of bike porn. Don't generally tend to notice clothing so much, although always happy to spot a full kit w*nker. Kudos to anyone I see wearing a cycling cap. No, usually just doff my hat as I do plenty of riding in the filth myself. Not really, only if it's some numpty puffing along with a rusty chain and no air in the tires.

I'm interested in what the replies could be. Don't think I've changed my habbits but I've been a cyclist on and off for >35 years. No, I give cyclists and all other road users plenty of room (in my German car) No, I'm not really that bothered about other peoples bikes. It's not about the bike No, people can wear what they want as far as I'm concerned. Yes, I do respect other cyclist that are out in all weathers. No, I've never critiqued a riders style. I personally think that is a bit snooty. If someone is out enjoying themselves or getting from A to B and doing no harm, let they ride whatever cadence or wobbly knee'd style they want. If someone asks for advice I'd certainly try to help. I used to cycle quite a bit with a lad with one arm, his riding style was unique but got the job done. I've also cycled with someone with one deformed knee. He had to adapt one crank and fit what looked like a Garmin Vector power meter between the pedal and the crank to shorten the drop at the bottom of the pedal stroke. His knee wobbles about all over the place but he was blisteringly quick. I love my German car btw

No change. I have always tried to give cyclists room and respect. Yes Yes Yes
I am fairly sure that anyone keen on cycling will check out other riders' bike, kit and riding style. I also check other people's cars and driving styles. I love bikes and cycling but life for me would be almost impossible without a car.

I'm interested in what the replies could be. it's been three years now. Three crashes each one getting more serious then the one before! Still riding! With now the required two plus one bikes my stable is full, the computer room too small and the wife slowly accepting that the girls are here to stay. I love bike candy, always check out the curves on another bike, paint scheme and kit. It's second nature now.
