I dunno' how you guys do it, I tried reading one of the recommendations on this thread, went through three red lights and decimated the Egremont primary school crocodile.

Life Cycles ~ Julian Sayarer
A London courier cycles around the world. Found it quite moving especially the acts of kindness found in the least expected places. Believe he has another one Messengers coming out soon, following his return.

Ideal for any armchair tourers suffering withdrawal since @davefy7 got back from his travels. Our heroine also visits Iceland and Morocco as well as Newfoundland, India and most of Europe as far North as the Arctic circle. Published in 1992 in a world free from the internet and mobile phones.

Two out from the Library;
Ned Boulting ~ On The Road Bike...I'm half way through, a good read.
Tim Hilton ~ One more kilometre and we're I the showers. (memoirs of a cyclist).
Great insight into way back when things were inn black and white, can highly recommend.

Looking up to my right at the bookcase, I can see I have that book, jondxxx I can't remember owt about it so not sure if I've read it or not. I'll have to take a look. Alastair Humphreys books are great and this one is a good read too. Cycling through Africa, on one occasion a gang of lads appeared on the road in front of them with knives. They decided to race through at top speed and got away with it.

Alastair Humphreys books are great. My kids loved Al Humphrey's "The Boy Who Biked The World" books (there are three), not sure I'd recommend them for adult consumption, though.

Currently reading Bjarne Riis' autobiography (as it's dirt cheap on kindle!) it's imaginatively entitled 'RIIS' The guy comes across as a bit of a selfish c**k, but it is another enjoyable insight into the doping culture of the time.
