Hi guys, just looking to get your thoughts on the two above bikes?
One of the two will be getting bought by me after Christmas Day. I'd alway thought it was the 500SE but think I. Might get abit more Xmas money than I thought so may be able to stretch out to the 500.
I understand the 500 has supply issues but I don't mind waiting. You may have also seen that the 500SE has recently dropped by Β£20 so there is now Β£100 difference between the two.
As I'm not to familiar with road cycling components is the standard 500 worth the extra Β£100?
One of the very few issues I've read about with the Tribans is weak wheels? Not sure how true this is, I'm 6'4" and fluctuate between 90kg - 95kg so I'm going to be straining it abit haha.

Up to you entirely, both good, although the 500 is pretty much sorted as a long term ownership sort of bike, not that the SE isn't, it's just the 8 speed and Ounce that could be a bit more refined; very rarely does anyone feel the need to upgrade the 500 unless it wears out (except wheels of course). Same wheels on both bikes, they're adequate and will handle your load (I've been the same weight), they may need truing and servicing at times but that's doable. Best ride them through winter and consider upgrading in summer.

Have you sat on one? a major consideration for someone your size is the fact that the 500 only goes up to 60cm(when available) while you can get the 500se in 63cm. The frames aren't as large as they sound as they're measured up the seattube to where a virtual horizontal top tube would meet the seatpost. The Triban wheels aren't weak, but in the past the bearings have been found to be overtight and insufficiently greased for our climate leading to premature failiure. Radchenister the 500se doesn't use the Ounce chainset of the 300, coming with either the more robust Claris Octalink or some have the lighter, stiffer but not as well sealed Sora Hollowtech2.

Yeah, I have sat on a 63" 500SE. It did feel big though. I will try both 60 and 63 if going for the 500SE.
I'll be really careful with the fit as I've just recovered from a painful ulnar nerve injury (caused by MTB bike - possibly me placing too much weight over handlebars and the extra vibrations you take whilst MTB'ing). Getting the right size and making sure I'm comfortable will be priority number one. It doesn't sound like there is a great deal of difference. At the current price of Β£330 you really can't go wrong.
Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate any tips.

Stand corrected, don't know where I imagined that, was riding with a guy on one a couple of sportives ago, obviously didn't look closely enough.
