65 miles today... 3h54m with some wind. i'm loving this bike the last bike i owned ( and rode) was 11 years ago, when i was 20. since than i exercised not so often, mostly with weights, so this bike is an oportunity for endurance training, in wich i used to be good. the only question that comes to my mind is, why so many years without a bike?! i've been missing alot...

Another great red customer! We should be paid for our advice lol Btwin or Dec. owe us commission on every bike sold. FACT! Oh don't get me started on knee pain. I'm in a complete downward spiral with knee pain. Putting me off getting on my bike If you are healthy and from your long rides you sound it, it will be due to bike setup. Something I've still not got right. Was trying again on the turbo trainer last night. Check out my thread on it with lots of good advice from everyone.

I have a niggle at the back of my left knee, I find stretching - feet flat lean forewards against wall/bike etc before (when I remember) during and after (when the niggle reminds me!) helps

It may just be overuse, perhaps combined / and / or set up - I believe mine was (is?) Leg Bicep Tendonosis (there are other repetitive niggle issues and I'm no doctor), if it comes on gradually during / after rides and doesn't just ping into happening, then that's the overuse clue (I think).
I had it far too often over the last 6 months but stretching does help, as does managing cadence and I even think fueling and hydrating properly can help keep it in cheque; mine cleared up with new road shoes, road pedals and the improvements coincided with the warm weather / increased fitness.
Hope it doesn't come back this winter as it is a real mood cruncher.
I have averaged only 2.6 hrs a week since December but that was enough to niggle it; in hindsight, the slow and steady progress was the right thing to do, they do suggest resting it totally as well sometimes (i.e. time off) - I think maintaining and managing riding with slow progression was just about doable but I think if I'd have tried to match BA for distance I might have been in trouble. I hits 40 - 50 age group quite often (as well as others of course).
