So, if I understand this correctly, Oscar Pistorious has been granted bail until he is sentenced for Manslaughter in mid October and the 'money' is going on him possibly 'walking away' (pardon the pun) with a suspended sentence.
I find this amazing, but furthermore the apparent statement from the chairman of the IPC that he will be free to compete again if he so wishes!
Now I am not a big fan of Lance Armstrong, but surely this begs the question - who did he actually kill to receive his lifetime ban?
Discuss............................

Mr L broke the rules of the sport so was banned. Nothing oscar p did or didn't do was anything to do with sport so don't see why he would be banned.

He should change disciplines to shooting as he can hit a target without even seeing it.

On a radio talk show today I heard that something like 200 police officers got shot in jb this year to date mostly on the way to work so they can steal their guns.
A paramedic was two hours late for work and when asked why he told them that it was because 2 people broke in his house and he shot them dead. The police didn't even open a case of to investigate ....2 hours late including traveling time says a lot.
Also at night no one stops at a red light if they have a nice car a they will shoot through the window and then take your car.
If a woman then prob gang rape to the place where they will kill you and dump the body.
Nice place.

Oscar Pistorious has recived Justice. If you want revenge then do not talk about justice. So many grieving families say that they have not recieved justice when what they really mean that have not had revenge. Do you believe that the judge was incompetant? Her advisors where incompetant? That the South African legal system is incompetant and unfit for purpose? . Personally i think the man is an arrogant, spoilt, rich boy .... dosn't make him a murderer though ... according to the court.

I've moved this into 'chill out' - nothing against people introducing non cycling topics to the forum, this is the place for them.

Yeah about as related as I am to Mr L E Gunderson (we were born on the same day I suppose, except I'm a bit older lol) ! IMO, the verdict so far means he's received a form of 'justice' but it certainly can't be classed as 'revenge' or maybe not even sufficient 'closure' for the family, as they're not really happy - sometimes in these circumstances it seems like the family (or probably more accurately, associates or the public / baying mob) want revenge on the victim's / family's behalf, but in this instance I think the media below puts together some decent reasons to question the verdict. I'm not really into this sort of thing usually but did watch the summing up while working; I thought the judge was offering a reasonably balanced narrative, kind of fair and reasonable, as you'd want from a trial but perhaps it was too fair and reasonable? The guy appears to have been treated leniently; as far as I can see, this is based on the fact that there was a door in the way and intent to kill has to be proven. If there was no door, then he'd have been much more likely to have received a guilty of murder charge; there is the possibility that he was just raging / having a hysterical tantrum and didn't mean to kill but then again, there's also the possibility he really did mean it - but this wasn't proven in the mind of the judge and it was her call. In the meantime, he does have to live the rest of his days with the world knowing he's a total douche, no matter what happens, I'm just a little troubled if he's not really sorry about it all and out at night clubs - I think I read he's planning a book (apparently, not sure if it's true). There are still a number of issues that don't appear to add up though at present, so it may not be over yet, the case could be appealed - see quote and article: Professor James Grant, from Wits Law School, said Pistorius could be forced back into the witness box. "The State is allowed in exceptional circumstances to appeal when the court makes a mistake of law,"www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/oscar-pistorius/11093158/Heartbroken-Reeva-Steenkamp-family-speak-out-after-Oscar-Pistorius-verdict-This-doesnt-add-up.html
