My complex prescription was quoted at over £500 by my local optician (cos I demanded wrap around frames for cycling as well as quality varifocal/polarised lenses)
Optilabs did them for just under £300 and they're brilliant

Sorry ... should have added that they're mail order, send the prescription: they send you 3 frames of your choice: if you're not convinced, send for another 3 .... and so on. Excellent telephone chat with them , and five day turn around

Vision Express do prescription sunglasses starting from £30. Specsavers do them too but I think they are more expensive.

I have never seen prescription cycling sunglasses in Spec Savers unless I have missed them as I am "blind" You are on about cycling glasses and not normal prescription sunglasses?

I was toying with the idea of getting all of my sunglasses lenses changed but then though about maybe trying contacts. Has anyone else tried this as I think it would be a much cheaper option. Ive never worn contact lenses so dont know how practical they are when onz the bike.

Ended up trying contacts for sport and really like them, in terms of long term costs they are probably similar to shelling out for a pair of sunglasses every two years (when your prescription changes) and means you can use interchangeable lenses (dark, orange, clear) when needed. Also has the added bonus of when you go on holiday you can use normal sunglasses.
