Was up at my folks in the Lake District for the week and they've still got my brothers old Raleigh Flyer in the shed. He's not ridden it since he had a nasty spill, back in 1989. His had white bar tape and white saddle...
I said I'd have a look at it for him and spruce it up so...
Changed the busted saddle for the one taken off my T3.
Specialized black phat bar tape which I'd unravelled from the T3 when I changed handlebars and put white tape on.
Tyres and Inner tubes from my bTwin rims when I upgraded to Shim 501s
Brake blocks from the T3 when I switched out to the Clarks set-up.
Completely changed the look from his stock set-up.
It's a 10 speed (2x5) with the levers on the downtube and weissman dual pull brake levers.
Took it for a 'quick spin' to make sure everything was ok and ended up doing 20 miles round the lanes and hills around Penrith. The only downside was I didn't have any padded shorts and had forgotten how bloody uncomfortable the saddle is without adequate padding.
And the kicker, proudly passed it to my brother and he looked at it and said there was no way he's getting back on a bike again!
Ah well, may have to bring it down here and lash it up on ebay.
Younger brothers, you can't beat them (well, not when my parents were around anyway).
Beautiful bike and surely one for holding on to. I really like the Raleigh bikes, I regret selling my Raleigh Banana bike but am more than happy with my BTwin,Brian.
