This last week I have managed to get in a couple of enjoyable hill runs on my new toy. The first one a 40 miler from Stalybridge, Stannage, Huddersfield, Buckstones, Delph and back to Stalyvegas. Just over 3000 ft of ascent. Maybe not much to some of you, but for me just starting out again thats a lot!! The second one I have just come back from, a little smaller at 27 miles, and 2800ft ascent. Stalybridge, Stannage, Meltham, Isle of Skye road to Greenfield and back to Stalyvegas. The hill out of Marsden to Meltham, is an absolute pig, but I made it, and the one out of Meltham is just as bad but longer. I am guessing the latter maybe a cat 2. The most enjoyable bit, and it made me smile all the way home, was the clear run downhill to Greenfield from Saddleworth Moor, cruising in the upper 30's and hitting the bends like a motor bike Gears are starting to get a little sloppy and not always engaging, so it looks like I may have to get it back to Decathlon for its free service a little quicker than I wanted to, but heyho.

Good going Mr. That's my regular playground so I know what you had to do. Chain Road to Meltham is nowt compared to Wessenden Head Road. You should try them the other way round too for a rollercoaster ride but mind the cattlegrid at +50. Now where's your Strava logs because if it's not on there then it never happened

I have them both on Strava which I have just started to use too, but I just want to sort out privacy settings, and a block on home address.

Excellent! I shall be pounding Standedge cutting tommorow and Sunday from my base camp in Mossley. I'm just past the train station on the A635 so you will no doubt be passing my door with a chance of bumping into me eventually.

I will definitely pass your door on some rides, although I usually come out at Royal George/Wellihole. I am the fella on a Triban 500, early 50's, and about a couple of stone overweight! You might also find me knee deep in the river Tame, catching the local trout!! I have just started using Strava, and I am embarrasingly low in the stats. If it gets me fit again, that is all I worry about!!
