Hi all, so glad I stumbled across this forum as I am new to the world of road bikes and learning so much from here.
Having read quite a bit about the Triban 3 and it being in my budget I've had my heart set on one but having visited my local Decathlon they didn't have my size, only the small sizes. Being as impatient as I am I've started looking at other bikes for around the same price.
Was hoping for a bit of advice as what to look at next as i have no idea about road bikes and all the terminology that comes with them. Any suggestions welcomed. Ideally under £280 and as light as possible
thanks in advance

I have a white T3a that I bought for the advertised price of £300. I love it. I look forward to riding it as if I was a kid again, riding a bike out with your friends. It's a fantastic bike for the money paid - fast (compared to what I have ever had before), light (same again) and a good range of gears for them problematic hills. So much bang for you buck. I couldn't speak higher of them.

Welcome to the Club, there is an enormous amount of information on here. If you can't find what you are looking for, just ask, and advice will be forthcoming!
In your situation I would (if employed), check if my employer used a Cycle 2 Work scheme? If you can make use of C2W, it could change your budget! Check the bikes for sale on the forum. Your size bike, may be available "preloved" from a Club member close to you. Place a posting on "Buy n Sell", letting the Club know what size you are looking for, and what area you live in. Some of us (moi?) procrastinate about selling our Triban! Get your details out there, and see what happens! eBay, my second Triban came off eBay (which is why I have one I should move on to a new owner!).
Good luck with your search, your bike is out there somewhere. If you need a 60 in the South East, it might be my "spare"!!

Thanks for all the info, its exactly what I was after.
I need a 57 or maybe 60 and yes I'm in the south east, Canterbury to be exact. Nearest store to me is quite a trip to Lakeside so may take a look to see if they have anymore sizes if not check out the white one.

The bits that I have learned in the last few months:
You might as well forget the red T3 - You are not going to get a new one in 57 or 60. You're just not.
You could buy a 2nd hand one off Ebay - But you'll pay through the nose and you won't know what's wrong with it.
If you're into doing upgrades, you know what size you want & its too far to travel to Decca - Buy a white T3A from Decca online. The quality of the product is good - You won't need to check it out in the store and from stories on here, any deliver problems seem quickly sorted by the company.
If your budget stretches up over £400 you aren't that fussed about upgrading yourself then buy a black T5. If you aren't fussed about Sora and want blue hoods and dont mind waiting until 'April' then get a T500SE. If you want Sora all around including brake calliper and don't mind the wait then get a T500
I personally found it handy to do the 2 hour trip to the nearest Decca as I bought a load of other stuff there too. I also wanted to check that a 60cm was the right size for me. I was originally going to wait for the T500 or T500SE, but life's too short, so I bought a T5!
