Is the old adage, and after years of taking my motorcycles to bits just to find out why they were working so well, (and latterly, weren't ) I've tended to leave the T3 well alone once I'd got it where I wanted it. But last night I realised that this isn't the best policy. The night before I'd gone out for a quick spin, it was a nice dry night and not too cold but it wasn't the fun I thought it was going to be as on the return leg the bike started to play up. I couldn't keep it in the gear i wanted, it changed up, and then down again all by itself, defeating all the trim adjustments I made at the barrel nut on the handlebars. The eyes are not good, especially in the dark under sodium lights, and I couldn't see anything wrong. So the next evening when I had a bit of time it was into the kitchen with decent glasses and strong lights. The problem was this adjuster on the derailers it was just resting against the place where it should have been screwed in, and I think this was causing the gears to jump as it moved about. The point is, it took some spotting. Because it looked ok at a quick inspection, I didn't notice anything was amiss and I don't know how it came to be out Five minutes work and it's perfect again, and I'll be checking things a bit more closely from now on.
