Hi All Had the fright of my life when this iOS update bricked my phone. Hard reset didn't help. Had to connect to the computer and do a restore. The update did it's thing then wouldn't restart the phone. It worked on my ipad.
There has been numerous reports of people who have had their phones/tablet bricked or able to recover by a factory restore. It is a hit and miss affair. If you have not had the 7.0.6 update done yet, avoid at all cost. The most interesting thing about this, is that this is an important update correcting a security flaw. Well, it just might put you out of pocket too.
Note well, Apple warranty does not cover bricking your phone caused by an update. That is just ridiculous!

iOS 7.1 should be due any time soon.
I've been running the beta (now on revision 5) for a while now. No issues to report.

Disagree, it's a massively important security update. Chances are that not that many people have experienced what you have, just those that do tend to kick up a fuss (understandably). It's a very small percentage experiencing issues and likely happens, to an extent, with all updates no matter the software.

Disagree as much as you like mate and yes it's an important update but at the expense of losing a phone that's worth Β£500 - Β£600 and you have just gone into the contract, I feel it's prudent to wait for the "major" update and only update after it's been in the wild for awhile. I don't use the internet much on my phone, 7.0.6 corrects the SSL security flaw thats a major hole they say. I could have done with out all the worry it cost me when I clicked that update link this week! If you browse the web you will see that there are people who have lost their ipads and phones to this update. I bet they dont feel happy been a "very small percentage" I actually lost valuable data to this bug (two days worth) I called that too close for comfort. Let me know how you feel when you have bricked your phone and find out Apple wont even left a finger to replace the phone.
