A recent addition to the calendar and I imagine a Tour Too Far for most the pro teams and riders who have had a long season. I notice that some of the World Tour teams including Sky and Lotto are not even sending their full complement of riders. Still money talks and the UCI want to expand their influence beyond the traditional cycle racing nations. Not that China is not a cycling nation. There was a song about the number of bicycles in Beijing or was it Peking?

Beijing never gets a lot of the big names. It was always about the ambitions of the outgoing regime at the UCI than anything else. It can provide good racing though, as can a lot of the other small end of season races.
