... in the absence of Jennifer Aniston lying next to me Waterloo, through Crosby and Thornton, along Lydiate Lane, down through Sefton to Maghull, along the A59 to Ormskirk, then the A570 to Southport, left at Kew, along Town Lane/Guildford Road and onto the A565, right (across the dual carriageway) onto North End Lane, left onto Moss Lane, through Little Crosby, right onto St Michaels Road, onto Hall Road, across the railway line (need to perfect the Sagan bunnyhop there!), left onto Serpentine Road North, left again onto Warren Road and then follow it back round to South Road and then home. 32 miles, 2 hours 8 minutes and i'm spent! It's about double what I normally do on my route at the moment but it was a lovely morning and I felt surprisingly full of energy. Just hope Jennifer doesn't knock for me, i'd have no resistance to her

Show us your Strava! ...on the 'Who's getting out there?' thread; a lovely outing no doubt, but when combined with slightly weird / stalkeresque starlet fawning tendencies, it's a little suspect IMHO and doesn't really warrant a new thread .

Sorry Rad, I'll consider myself told off, won't happen again. I can copy and paste my original into the 'Who's getting out there' thread if you'd prefer? Was a lovely outing and nothing wrong with a red blooded male lusting after our Jen I'm not on Strava... yet.

It's only an average of about 15 mph though. No wind today and it's flat as a pancake round here, couple of bumps but not really a climb per se, so it's easy to maintain a good cadence and that seems to be circa my usual speed from other routes, if a tad slower by 1 mph.

Just jesting, also urging you to get on the thread that already covers this sort of thing very well. With Strava hook ups you'll realise that many of the members are also out this morning - if they all did a new thread each time there'd be hundreds perhaps into thousands after not too long.

No worries. Advice has been taken on board and i'll follow that route going forward. Just got a bit giddy with it all (as you may have guessed) and forgot the etiquette. Apologies again.

No problem budd', just looking out for you as that's where the socialable crew usually hang out. Strava adds a new dimension to the riding, don't take it too seriously though but it does give structure and purpose when you need it, as well as a record. You don't have to chase it all the time, as this can be a bind but on balance, it will keep you motivated and there's 50+ of the TOC guys n gals on there already.

I tend to look at the clock on my phone when I start, again when i'm done and use google maps to plot my route and work it all out from there. Old school 'ere!

Then graduating to BikeHike and Strava will be a revelation, both quick and easy to use. The former allowing you to check elevation and gradients, even export a .tcx to look at in more detail in Google Earth. MapMyRide and Strava have mapping tools also, as does Garmin (really need a device for that one). Lots of ways to spice up your life (as the song goes ).

Hi Matt, its a wonder we never crashed, I started about 9.45 in Seaforth, through Waterloo into Crosby, coastal path thru to Hightown onto Formby via new cyclepath round the back of Freshfield on to the A565 to Southport. Came back via coastal road, Thornton, Litherland Seaforth. Took me over three hours, but it was my first proper trip out on a road bike for must be 40 years. Got the triban 5 and just found out that I really need to change the seat Bpspider
