Hi guys - with winter fast approaching I have now set up my turbo trainer to keep the cycling going in the dark wet nights and have now started looking for a HRM to help with the fitness. ANyone got any they would recommend? I would like one that ideally tells me distance as would like to know how far I'm cycling in my garage but I know they seem to come with more components rather than the fancy up to date GPS ones.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I've got a Garmin 510 with cadence and HRM. Works well on the turbo and you can programme interval workouts with it to prompt you to ride at a certain cadence or within a Heart Rate Zone for a given time. Only down side is the cost. But I bought it predominately for using when out and about on the bike, so using it on the turbo is a bonus.

I bought a geonaute 310 hrm from Mecca to help do the time crunched training plan. It cost about 27quid and works perfectly for me. Doesn't attach or download to anything but tells you current hr when moving and stopwatch. Then when finished it shows avg heart rate as well. Can set zones if want and alarm beebs if outside zone. Very good basic hrm for sensible price
