It was my rest day today. Took the car to work and am glad I did! It was absolutely tipping it down this morning. The roads were saturated with lots of wet leaves present owing to the accompanying strong winds.
Now I love cycling to and from work but even I thought conditions were, shall we say, a bit risky this morning. It rained for most of the day and stopped just before I left for home.
Enforce rule 5 you may say. I didn't care, I considered my judgement to be correct this morning as my stock tyres, wet roads along with wet leaves created a combination I felt was unsafe. My ride into work as some of you will know is a short but quite speedy descent all the way there. I like to keep my skin on my backside thank you very much! It's going to be more of the same tomorrow so my T3 will be once again tucked up in the garage.
Next planned outing will be my commute on Friday, possibly followed with an evening ride out to make up for the lost ride time.

My first year cycling so this will be my first proper experience with the bad weather. I've dealt with the odd summer shower but I expect the autumn and winter weather will disrupt my riding a lot more. It's just the lack of brakes I don't like. I was planning to put the T3 away if it was raining and use the MTB instead (especially after the last few weeks where I've used it a lot and managed good distances) but the brakes are non-existent on that thing when it's wet No doubt I need new ones, they haven't been changed since I got it over 15 years ago Aside from that I actually quite like cycling in the rain*. Don't know why. *Opinion may change once I've experienced proper winter rain.

Ha haa... now that might be interpreted as abuse of authority, Redleader.

It takes an age to warm up again when you get home.

I'm with Red. I cycle for pleasure and there is no pleasure in cycling in the rain. If I had to I would but I don't so I don't .
