Hi there, first time here so please be gentle. I have recently decided to take on cycling. After asking around i found that a triban 3 was the best bike for the buck as I was looking for a second hand bike for less than 300 pounds. After almost purchasing this bike for 315 on ebay but i didnt cause people were saying its not worth it. link here -> www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141055977056?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649someone suggested that i get for a triban 3 with carbon forks and not the newest one. theres also one that im eyeing which is a giant defy 2 road bike. any comments on it? link here -> www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131000238831?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649im looking for a commuter bike but something i can ride on for weekend for fitness. if any of you happen to know where i can get my hands on a brand new or used red triban 3 size 54 cm that would be so so helpful. thanks guys.

There are still 54cm red Tribans in stock at Decathlon in Sheffield, Warrington and Belfast according to the website. Worth emailing to make sure it's right and they'll probably be happy to courier one to you too

Coventry Decathlon has had quite a lot of red ones in stock for the last 2 weeks or so. Not entirely sure on what sizes but I'm sure there were a few 54's when I was up there on Friday.

Don't be so quick to dismiss the T3a (white one). As entry level road bikes you won't go far wrong with either of them - as plenty here can confirm.
I've done over 1000 miles since May (approx. 900 recorded) on my T3a.

I tried a 54 in the store and it felt too big, was a stretch to get to the handlebars. Having said that I just jumped on one. The saddle height seemed right but the stem probably could have been flipped. I've had to adjust my 51 a bit though. The saddle is quite a bit above the height of the handlebars which was giving me trouble so I have an angled stem to help with hand/wrist pain. I have basically no core strength though and probably put more weight on my hands than would be normal. This probably won't help, but I'm still not sure if I should have got a 51 or 54. The 54 felt too big in then the 51 has sometimes seemed too small. I don't think you can really be sure about bike fit without trying it out first, and even then if you're new to it it's hard to know. Someone else will probably have a better answer but that's my experience

I don't know if the 51 is still around in red but bear in mind it has smaller wheels so if you are thinking of upgrading it might be more difficult as the standard size is 700 not 650 for most road bikes. You can always get a shorter stem if the reach is a bit too much.
