been building up to go a decent distance on the bike and today decided to go for it, headed up cycle track 75 from plains to bathgate golf course and back total of about 27 miles in around 2hrs 45 or there abouts , was using endomondo on the phone but it died on the way back !!! feel great, definately need padded shorts and a new gel saddle ... need to set the bike up a bit better, saddle needs to be moved back a bit more and i think the front derailler needs adjusting a wee bit as times i was changing up or down and pedalling along and it wasnt for changing , click again and it would jump down or up 2,... apart from that everything went great

Always a good feeling when you complete a longer ride than you have previously I'd give padded shorts a try before a gel saddle, usually with a saddle that fits you well and padded shorts you don't need any more protection. Quite a few on here seem to have got on well with the charge spoon, but the same saddle won't work for everyone. I'm finding I am alright with the stock saddle and padded shorts but rides up to 25 miles though I am tempted to get the spoon as this saddle probably won't feel so nice when I get onto longer rides.

Good mileage Graeme.
27 miles without padded shorts? Your butt is gonna feel that tomorrow pal!!!
Saddlewise, I got used to the stock saddle on my T3. However, swapped it for a Selle Italia XO. Took a bit of getting used to, but with the padded shorts it's feeling more comfortable now. As Harley suggested, get yourself some padded shorts and give the stock saddle a go. It may do the job for you.

I use the stock T5a saddle, it has taken over 700 km and a few weeks to get it in the right position and be comfy to sit on. Now to start on the handlebars.

Well done that man.
Don't be too hasty buying the padded gel saddle, your backside will harden off somewhat as you get used to riding (The shorts are useful though). I had an eight week layoff over the summer, and although I didn't lose as much fitness as I expected, I really felt it on the sitbones when I restarted. Now, it isn't a problem again, so stick with it.
