Is 50 grams gonna make that much of a difference or is it more about the principle? 50g prob not noticeable, but I paid £50 for a seatpost because it was meant to be one of the lightest. And all the small amounts add up somewhat. But turns out they lied and it weighed the same as a £25 seat post. Conned me into buying it effectively.

Is 50 grams gonna make that much of a difference or is it more about the principle? For me it would be the principal. You can pay a lot of money to reduce the weight of some components by small amounts. The weight savings get evermore expensive as you go lower in weight. If you do not get that quoted weight saving the money could have gone on something that would save weight.

That's fair enough i get what you mean, i suppose 50 grams itself isn't a lot but 50 here and there makes it worthwhile. I'm not as serious about times and power output so it's wasted on me but i can see why it can be for others. If you've been conned then i'd fire it back and get your cash back.

Depends where that 50 grams is lost from. I defy anyone to tell 100 grams has been removed from any area of frame, bars, forks etc. BUT Take 50 grams from a tyre or wheel rim and the weight saving is multiplied by wheel speed to feel like much more than 50 grams has been removed. This is why the best money you can spend is lighter wheels/tyres. SO - has anyone found a PAIR of wheels lighter than 1510g at sensible money ?

Interesting that the shimano R500's are somewhat lighter than the Mavics..............according to them!! Which Mavics? The R501s are quite lightweight. I love them, for £66 I don't care about wrecking them. Lighter than the RS30 everyone has started bumming off, at half the cost. My front one with Gatorskin tyre, conti tube, and skewer is 1303g and the rear with same plus 9spd cassette is 1818g. The basic ones they sell at Decathlon. Askiums??

They are not 1510g for the PAIR I seem to remember the standard T3 wheels being quoted at around 2100g the PAIR. ( and £70 a pair ) Mavic Aksiums are around 1950g a PAIR ( and £250 a pair ) The superstar Elite 30 wheels are 1510g the PAIR ( and £175 a pair )

Sorry, but i'm really confused now! That link doesn't refer to either the Shimano or Mavic wheel sets. Am I missing something?
