Came of my t3 today. My fault. Too fast, pulled brakes too hard and both while turning on wet leaves. Couple of cuts, bruised knee and ego. But apart from that, I'm fine. All I cared about was my bike anyway. Rear wheel has a wobble. Quick release is scrached up. And the left leaver is really marked and scrached up. Still, the frame is fine apart from a bit that needs touching up next to the quick release. Luckily new wheels were ordered last night and I plan on upgrading the groupset next spring. Still hurts as I wanted to sell the wheels and groupset.
Anyway I thought I'd post this in the hope it helps another new road bike rider. Just be careful, as it's easy to get carried away with the new found speed, and lapse on safety.

Sorry to hear about your spill bob. Glad to hear you are ok with no serious injuries.
Suppose it's a lesson learned. Wet leaves and narrow road tyres are a bad combination. Hate to say it but road conditions are due to get much worse as the autumnal weather progresses.
Thanks for posting this very apt warning to others.

Thanks. I was so close to riding my mountain bike today. If I came off that, and marked it up, I couldn't have cared less. But the fact is, it was because I was riding a road bike with a mountain bike state of mind. Wont happen again.Β
I'd of been really upset if it'd happened to my new wheels.

Leaves are indeed very treacherous. Another hazard is manhole covers in the wet, especially if negotiated at any sort of angle. No grip at all. I went over a damp one the other day, lost the back, and only my lightning reflexes and Saganesque bike control (or might just have been luck!) prevented me having a nasty accident.

Also keep off any paint on the road if it is wet, slippery stuff.

I came off last Thursday, bike is ok, just a hood scratch. Pulled a groin muscle and its still aching so much today. A real slow healer.

Sorry to hear about your accident bobdigi88. I hope you will beable to afford the repairs and get back on. I noticed that road markings can be rather slippery in the wet. I wonder why they don't use a different type of paint instead?

The hoods a scrached but I'm not buying new ones. They can wait. I'm just glad the frame's ok. As for the paint, good point. I'm sure there's something they could use with better, or some , grip.

I am busting to get out but my groin muscle won't allow a simple lift of my leg at an upward inward angle. Any ideas please on speeding recovery?

Tbh rest is probably the best way of speeding up recovery, use it too much and you're just going to do more damage.
