My father - in -law came back from his holiday in Cornwall with a lovely new Ridley Fenix Carbon with all Campagnalo groupset. Had to pop down and have a ride of it yesterday. It is a lovely looking machine and very compact, but in all honesty, it didn't feel a million miles lighter than my humble T3 and I was left wondering how comes it costs Β£1500 more than the T3?

And that is why the Triban range are outstanding value for money.

I don't know a hell of a lot about road bikes, but the T3 frame is just so spot on for me it is ridiculous. I hear you can spend so much more but why bother?

The other advantage with the T3 over the one you tried is that the T3 will take a hell of a knock and still be rideable. OK, it may have a massive dent and be missing some paint but the same blow could write-off the carbon

I was thinking the same couple weeks ago when my neighbour bought a new cube agree GTC Di2 slt compact and I went round to see it, its very nice and well made but didn't really seem to feel that light, so I thought the same as stevo and totally agree my neighbour paid Β£2000 for his cube!

I think you'd need to be seriously into the sport to merit paying that kind of cash, i doubt i'll ever be that into it. More than happy with my 5a i doubt i'll buy another bike unless i break it!

Wouldn't mind a go on a carbon bike but the 5a is pretty amazing weight wise considering it's price, and I'd be really worried about damaging a carbon bike. The Di2 gears intrigue me but as I tend to ride in just a single gear anyway they'd be a bit of a waste I suppose

I'd hope Di2 didn't have too many problems what with it being so expensive and the auto trimming should sort everything out.
It's just like cars these days, no more spanners you just take it to a garage and plug it in.
