Looks like summer may be over now as the colder weather has made an entrance.
I have a pair of "El Cheapo" padded tights - Sports Direct Specials. Never worn them as yet. Not sure if I will, I opt for shorts in the warmer weather. Now looking for a "Roubaix" type padded tights. Looking for decent quality, good performing but obviously keenly priced variety which will keep my little legs warm this coming autumn and winter months.
Any good suggestions?

Redleader I had those all last winter if they are the muddy fox ones. Done the job the padding isn't great but ok. Better than getting your dangly bits frozen off you.

I've also got the cheap Muddy Fox ones and used mine all last winter. As you say, padding isn't the best, but it was before I had any decent bib shorts so didn't know any better Kept me nice and warm though and I wore them out in the snow.

I used a pair of Lidl Bib Tights all through last winter and spring, padding not great on them either, but I just wore my Bibshorts underneath. Then you have the extra padding and also an extra layer to keep you warmer. I need to dig them out of the cupboard now the weathers turning colder. Zeb

What's the whole idea with the description "Roubaix" is it supposed to be better/warmer/longer?

Purely because Paris–Roubaix is a cobbled race…

Purely because Paris–Roubaix is a cobbled race… I was just thinking that was just a commercialisation of the race for the clothing manufacturers. Just how much "more" padding can they put in a shorts and call it that? Winter shorts are just winter shorts, summer are just summer shorts. Roubaix shorts are?

I popped into a LBS the other day that has a great sale rail. Picked up a pair of Orbea roubaix lined bib tights for £40. Not that it really helps you, lol.
PS Roubaix is a thin fleece like fabric.

I have the cheapo Muddy Fox ones from Sports Direct, they're okay for the price, would recommend trying them on in-store for fitting, as I heard they are a little strange sizing. I am a medium, and I usually wear medium so okay for me.
Padding isn't the best, but, works.

Due to the lack of a pad you can get away with not having to wash them every day and then having 2 layers higher up provides more insulation.
