Can anyone who has ridden both give advice as to how these compare please.
I'm struggling to find anything constructive other than 'its garbage compared to the red, hasn't even got carbon forks....'
Even from the reviews on the Decathlon website it appears that half of them are for the red bike but have been written in the wrong place.
Bottom line is I dont think I can get a 57 in red, although I do have an email from decathlon indicating they may be getting some more limited stock in.
But I am tempted by the white on several grounds anyway:
1. I personally think white looks better (Sorry)
2. I'm a little concerned about carbon forks, and the potential for failure, and in particular the apparent need to be very careful with them. Am I really going to notice the difference in the real world? Bike will mainly be used for commuting, I'll usually have a backpack anyway, so am I really likely to notice the difference in weight. Equally, is the feel that much different from steel (I'm assuming the 3a is steel - doesn't really say). I'm assuming for a commuter that may get bashed around I'd be better with steel anyway, and carbon is more suited to a weekend toy? This is still relevent even if I cant get a red, as I may go for a 5a.
3. Microshift - is this better or worse than the 2300, or just unproven at present? Again, people seem to refer to microshift garbage by default without appearing to back it up. The lack of the small thumb shifter seems a positive for a start.
Any other differences, and has anyone else been able to get a definite weight difference?
Thanks
P.S. not trying to start a war, just trying to get some decent advice.
