I am looking to go on a group ride this Saturday but would like to know the perceived wisdom of the tribe.
I am an experienced motorcyclist so know about the drop off system and a sweeper for tail end Charlie. What concerns me is the proximity of riding in a group to benefit from slip-streaming. You cannot see anything other than the guy in fronts back wheel so pot holes and the like can't be avoided. Also what's the rotor system for taking turns at the front and letting people behind know you wish to drop back?
I do a lot of miles but generally on my own.

Look up videos on youtube for cycling hand and verbal signals and then watch your average speed rise as you ride in a group. Solo is fun but nothing beats group riding.
PS usually the guy in front will, after checking it is safe to do so, peel off the front to the right and drop back.
