Differs depending on where you come from.
Being a northern person I generally have the following meals;
Breakfast (morning) Dinner (mid day) Tea (after work, early evening) Supper (very light snack later evening)
For the record, Mrs RL has made a mahoosive pan of chilli for our tea tonight. Nowt better with this cold weather!
Will you be having tea or dinner later?

We're southern so 'Dinner' is usually a main evening meal and we do 'Lunch' midday. 'Tea' is either 3pm-ish, actually with tea and cakes (but also perhaps sandwiches) but this might also apply all the way through to 6pm or 7pm, if it is a light evening meal. However, the roast lamb was the main meal today and it was served early afternoon but as it's Sunday, it was called 'Dinner', 'cause it's the big main meal of the weekend. Confused yet? I know I am! To make it worse, the OH is Welsh - Wales is a place where meals are described much more like oop north - except they eat seaweed, disguising it by calling it 'laverbread' and probably loads of other weird stuff called beef but made from horse meat (oh hang on, that's not just in Wales ). All in all, we're a very confused household on the meal description front!

Being from a scottish household lunch was what posh people had. We had breakfast, dinner and tea. Nowadays its much more southern fare, crustless cucumber sandwhiches and Pimms on the lawn ( not a deep fried mars bar in site ( what would the neighbours think), though I am still partial to a nice piece of Black pudding (proper scottish stuff not the northern imitation) 8o)
