So on my commute to work today my saddle kept slipping back despite the clamp being as tight as it possibly can. I've noticed it's now taken off the paint on the rails of my saddle & was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the stock seatpost & clamp or just me? My Saddle is a Selle Italia SLR Team Edition on Vanox rails FWIW. It's always seemingly gripped the saddle fine, so I don't know if it's from wear & tear or a problem inherent from when the bike was first bought.

is the clamping mech fine? you havent overtightened at some point and stripped the threads have you? The threads were one of the first things I checked when I got home and they look fine. I must say that despite the slipping when on the bike the saddle feels very secure in the clamp so I don't know what it could be except maybe any sudden movements of mine could have caused it? Maybe it's a sign to get out more and lose more weight! I was looking to upgrade the seat post in the near future tbh so looks like I may have to do it now rather than later.

ach if youve got a fat arse i hardly see that as being able to force the seat back or forward if the pin is secured, are the rails seated in the groove of the seatpost properly? you dont have the seat too far back ??
total puzzler toonsi

I had my very bike proficient mate check over it as well and he was just as perplexed. Thankfully the missus works at the same place and was there when one of the times it happened as I almost toppled over save for unclipping at the very last minute. She's given me the green light to get it fixed for my own safety, ergo I take that as a free pass to upgrade to a carbon seatpost .

Maybe you just aren't strong enough to do it up tight enough to be secure? Honestly though, if threads are fine and it is done up tight I can't see why it would be slipping back. After it has slipped are you able to tighten it up? Could be the bolts shaking loose ever so slightly.
