Hi folks. I have an old Claud Butler hybrid which I want to use for commuting/light touring. I'm not talking anything heavy, just able to cope with cycle paths/compacted gravel trails etc. It currently has 700x25c tyres, I was hoping to be able to take it up to 700x28c but I don't think the clearances will allow it. Was wondering if I invested in some 25c Gatorskins or something whether you think they'd be up to the job? This was the bike that got me into cycling, and now my shiny new T3 has stolen its thunder I want it to still have a valid and useful role in my cycling life! Thanks in advance.

I would probably go for something slight more 'robust' for 'touring'. I find my Schwalbe Durano Pluses stand up to cycel paths and compacted gravel trails reasonably well when they are not covered in mud.

Don't worry - my tourer actually has Marathon XR's on it, but I prefer the Marathon Extremes, but my tourer is actually an expedition bike based on an mountain bike design with rohloff hub. however the OP said 700x25c tyres, which was why I was thing about what I have on my T3... I did try marathon pluses, but did not get on with them on my tourer - finding the off-road/gravel handling to be a major problem - possibly when I actually liked the Marathon Extremes which had great off road & gravel handling.

Top right of the edit box click add attachment and you should be able to upload it. Otherwise you can use something like photobucket, flickr, etc

My Michelin Pro 4 Endurance stood up to some battering on off road routes recently, not at speed but for longer distances than I should have put the T3 through, just to throw that into the mix.
