Hi fellow Triban owners
I like millions of others wear spectacles and cant tolerate contacts at all having tried all permutations "feels like i have an extra eyelash in my eyes"
My last eye test i asked about any cycling specific Prescription insert sunglasses and
was shown an all black framed Sport / cycle Pair looking a bit like the cool ones you see guys wearing on the road they are polarised and come with the yellow tinted lenses as well for less sunny weather
they just flip up on a hinge and the inserts just clip in very easily
you cant really see the inserts unless you are close up and they seem very comfortable.
all in including inserts Β£70
now on the road very clear good vision with the bonus of Polarised Lens only problem seem to slip
slightly on the nose when very sweaty and believe you me at an unfit 50 years and far too many currys
iam a heavy sweater the nose part is very smooth is their anything i can put between the nose piece and my nose to make them a bit more non slip
thanks in advance
Justin (whitestarb52001)

Hi Justin, how about something round the back of the head, like an elasticated leash, instead? I have one for surfing, kayaking, snowboarding, works great.

I have known people to have it done and they have been very happy with it, but Im still unsure!

May have to nip to Specsavers and have a look :-) Got really bad vision though, so have a bad feeling lenses are going to cost me a arm and leg as I opt for have thinner lenses too otherwise they are so thick & heavy!

With the laser, I know a few people who have it done and praise it to high heavens.
I know just as many people, who 5-10 years down the line, tell me they are wearing contacts and/or glasses again, as it's not a permanent solution.

Most people's vision deteriorates as they get older, regardles of visual acuity earlier in life.
I had it done 5 years ago, vision is perfect still, I'm mid 20's now. Had very bad vision beforehand. Had worn contacts for nearly a decade, all day every day. Started to cause major problems with blood flow etc. So went for the surgery. Glasses were not an option.
I will say this though, I can say for certain the flap they cut is a weak point on my eyes now. If I rub my eyes a certain way I'll get stingy shooting pains. After I have been swimming without goggles, the flap seems even weaker. I THINK there is a higher chance of it tearing due to impact. They told me that this is not the case, and the risk of tearning is no greater than a normal eye. This is bull imo, just thinkin about it logically, and how are they goignt o test this really. The do let jet pilots have it in the US, but not the UK currently.
Also, the pressure has changed inside my eyes slightly. Due to the now thinner skin. I am intending to get a checkup. Whether this is a potential problem I do not know.
I'm happy I got it so far. But my experience was bad though. Pain was unreal. I've broke collar bone, had teeth taken out, had knee problems, tendonitis etc but nothing compared to the pain for a few hours afterwards, just feels like someone has cut your eyes, which they did anyway. Vision in one eye was 'cloudy' for a month afterwards. That was stressful. Cleared out though.
If you don't mind wearing glasses. Don't bother having it done IMO. Till they can guarantee the results, and say with a high degree of certainty that you'll suffer no ill effects. I consider myself lucky so far :/
Oh and water seemed to sting my eyes for around a year afterwards.

I think many sugar-coat or forget the problems they experienced, or still have so cheers for that. Now, when I am at home or work I will wear specs. If I am cycling to work or out on Sunday leisure ride I will wear contacts. I too wore contacts 7 days a week for 4 years and I had no sensation left in my eyes. I would now discourage someone that asks me if contact lenses are the 'solution' to poor eyesight. Which procedure did you have? I know there are a few different methods.
