Just wondering if anyone is from or familiar with this area. I'm there for a week in September and plan on taking the bike. Ideally i would like to ride 1 - 2 hrs maybe 4 times while i'm there.
I'd be very grateful of any info or routes.

From St Ives I would go down the road to st just...... If you look at a map there are a few country lanes to make a loop. It's supposed to be a scenic road down to st just. I went from where I stayed, to Marazion, Penzance, Mousehole..... Picked up a cycle route that led me down country lanes to Lands End. Just beware of heading down to Sennen cove...... It's a dead end and you have one hell of a steep hill to get back up.

I've done a circular route from Penzance through Mousehole and along quiet country lanes to Lands End. Short steep climb out of Mousehole which is well worth a visit. Lands End was just too tacky for my liking. I then cycled the north coast through Zennor to St. Ives which was nice and quiet and my preferred coastline with lots of old tin mines knocking about. St. Ives back to Penzance along the B3311.
My favourite area down there is the Lizard Peninsula. Lizard Point is what Lands End should be like. There is a good pasty shop in Lizard village. Mullion Cove and Kynance Cove are very picturesque. If you like walking the coastal path from Mullion to Lizard Point is well worth a try.

Was brought up as a bairn in the Lizard, @davefy7, so would absolutely agree. Beautiful part of our fine country. Am not stupid enough to get into a 'best pasty' debate!

You are a lucky chap being brought up down there, PV. We had quite a few family holidays on the Lizard when the kids were younger, staying at Teneriffe Farm nr Predannack. I always took the bike down and had some good rides out.

Plotted a route with Ride with GPS, leaving Carbis Bay, round to St Ives, down to St Just, then pretty much following the coast around to Mousehole, Penzance and then back up to Carbis Bay. It's 45 miles and there's about 3800 ft of climbing. There's a few ups and downs but reckon it will be a nice ride. Not sure i'll be able to do that every day so might have to plan out a few shorter routes too.
