Had to go to Belfast Decathlon this morning as I thought the cable to the derailleur had snapped. When I got there I was seen right away and it was discovered that the derailleur had actually broken in two. They replaced it all FOC and the young girl Amy was great to deal with. Praise where it is due.

They were great to deal with when I was up there last Friday. Great customer service. Although strange to hear about another rear derailleur snapping.

Glad you got it sorted Soda, was there a few weeks ago getting gears tuned up after i messed everything up, that ron guy is sound, took bike back in after my wee test ride found the gears where making noises, 2 mins and he had it sorted Excellent service at all times and as you say Ronnie is sound as are all the youngsters in the bike section. Was having a bit of trouble changing and not being able to get certain gears when I was out on Sunday. Brought the bike to Jim McGarvey in King Street he indexed the gears and trued the back wheel for me for a fiver. I seen you had a bit of nonsense with the LBS, McGarvey's is a bit old fashioned but I can't complain about any time I have went into him. No big rush with anything but confident in that he knows bikes inside out.

sodafarl i think Mr McGarvey's head is going, when i got new wheels i phoned him to see if he could put cassette on rear and stick tube and tyre on, also sort gears if needed, he told me shop was pretty clear so yes he could do it and id have it back that day, i phoned back 10 mins later asking had he got a tube for the wheel as i had bought the last one from him a few days before, he said he did, he also said he had a cassette , told him i already had the cassette, he then told me all he could that day do was put tyre and tube on wheel !! I mean, ive watched vids and it takes a few seconds to put on a cassette, 5 mins for tube and tyre and prolly a few more mins to tune up gears if needed, he's a strange wee man, ive gave him work before and bought a right few things from him, i wont be back to him after the way he treated me over the phone and i would nt recommend him either to anyone, his lose, there are plenty other shops to go to and in this climate it would be unwise for anyone to treat customers the way he does. My bro also had trouble with him, a kids bike brand new, brake needed adjusting, he was told to leave it with him (this was a tuesday) and pick it up on saturday!!! , he managed to get it back on thurs and was charged Β£18 for brake and truing of rear wheel!! Bro did not ask for the wheel to be trued and besides that it was a brand spanking new bike ! No no i wont be back near him, instead i'll bring my custom to full cycle on the antrim road just above the limestone road.

Baz sorry to hear that. Don't want to run him down any but as you say the plot might be getting lost. Have heard good and bad reports about full cycle but can't comment as I haven't even been in the shop on the to do list just for a look. Good thing about this forum that you can get the opinions. Cheers
