I don't know if anyone is still following this but there was a good win by young French guy, Warren Barguil from Argos Shimano today. It was an intermediate stage and the GC contenders were taking it easy but nevertheless he outfoxed a number of top riders including Scarponi, Mollema, Nocentini and Santomarita to win by a decent margin. When they were Skil Shimano this team were decidedly lacklustre but they are now putting together a really good all round team of young riders. I believe Barguil is only 20 years old so it was quite an achievement.

A star is born. The 21 year old Warren Barguil did it again today. To emphasise his win on the flat last week he won a mountain stage today. He made a a solo break with about 10k to go. Sky's Rigoberto Uran caught him with about 200 metres to go but Barguil just won by about half a wheel. This has been a very tough race this year and around a quarter of the field have dropped out. The weather had a lot to do with this. Last week they were on the Costas in about 40C but on Saturday they rode up to Andorra in heavy rain with the temperature dropping to under 5C. Several including Ivan Basso dropped out suffering from hypothermia. What a way to earn a living!

Yep, that was good today - nice to see Nibals getting a bit of a dent as well.

I think Nibali and many others will be glad of the rest day tomorrow. Horner took around half a minute off him today. The penultimate day which finishes on the notorius Angliru will be interesting. I am not sure it will suit Horner because its almost vertical and he rides at a very low cadence

Sorry to spoil your fun Martin. Perhaps you should avoid this thread until after you have watched the recording. I must admit I watch the race out of the corner of my eye during the day on Eurosport and record ITV4's programme to watch later. That way one can edit out all the adverts and get a different perspective on the race. On Sunday on the climb to Peyregude, they passed the exact spot where we standing to watch Brad go past in yellow during the 2012 TDF. There must have been 200,000 people on the mountain that day. On Sunday I didn't see a single soul at least not until the finish.

Great win by Chris Horner yesterday. Amazing that at almost 41 years of age (I am a great supporter of mature sportsmen) he went up that final climb like a spring chicken leaving a lot of talent like Nibali, Rodriguez and Valverde for dead. I guess that they will claim that they are keeping their powder dry for later stages but a great win nonetheless. Picture this. I watched the race on my laptop whilst sitting on the ridge of my two storey house where I am doing repairs to the pointing on the ridge and hip tiles. No scaffolding but at least there was no wind. Not had time to ride the bike for a week now. Grrrr. Been very busy and just going through the backups on my Skybox. I saw that race too and was curious how the oldest man in the race did so well. No doubt there will be questions asked about his fitness level. Wonder if he will be going through a battery of dope testing.

Heard the commentators saying that the French teams didn't like the fact of a French man winning for a foreign team. I think they will be trying to get him on one of the national teams next year for France.

Nicholas Roche enough said. I am a big fan of Nick Roche too. It seems he will only make third on GC at best but he is doing great so far - well I am upto stage 14.

Sadly there are always questions asked when somebody does exceptionally well. Horner's career dates back to the time when doping was pretty much endemic in the sport so there must be some suspicion. However I am prepared to give him the benefit if the doubt. At 41 he is twice the age of yesterday's winner. There are not many people riding competitively at that age never mind being a potential winner of a major stage race. I really hope he is clean and that he wins.
