Hello guys!
I am new to road biking (never had one) and I have simply fallen in love with it after riding a budget bike Mistral 14 Speed. As a result, I'd like to get my own Road Bike. I had a great opportunity to buy a SH Giant Defy 5 but unfortunately the frame was too big for my 5 feet 11" height (It was a 55.5 L size and Giant's geometry is different from the normal one). However, I went to my local Decathlon and I found 3 available Road bike models: Triban 3A, Triban 7 and another one that did not have Drop Bars. Due to my modest budget I tried the Triban 3A in size 57 ( It was the last one in stock too! ---because it had the front derailleur shifter broken ). It felt really good and the rear shifting was quite smooth except for the harsh noise it made while I was pedalling harder and changing the same time( I know that's my bad but I hoped the shifter would be forgiving). Next week they are going to replenish their stock but before buying one, I have a few questions:
1- Where is the frame actually made? Despite being a French Company, I've heard the frames are made either in Italy/Romania or somewhere else?!
2-What kind of fork does it have? Steel or aluminium. If steel, what type - Hi-Ten, CRMO?
3- Is it comfortable on long distances?
4- Are the wheels resistant even if I ride on pot-holed pavements ( small ones) - I guess with those double-walled aluminium with reinforcement rings wheels shouldn't be a problem. Furthermore, for that kind of riding, are 700x25 tires noticeably better?
5- Recommended PSI for inflation (min-max)
6- Are the shifters resistant to lots of shifting ( told you about the one with already broken shifter, maybe because of misusage)
Thanks and please excuse my grammar issues and long story - I'm from Romania! Cheers!
