So I'm out today happily cycling and get a puncture on my front, no problem I'll swap the tube. I get back on my bike to continue and get half mile down the road getting some speed up downhill and my rear explodes. The road had recently been resurfaced and it was the large gravel stones. The rim was torn to shreds by the stones in turn completely shredding the tyre. The inner tube came completely out and wrapped itself around my rear brakes leaving me sat at the side of the road waiting for my wife to pick me up, glad I had my mobile. Bit of a bummer as the bike is now off the road but there is a bright side, it means I can order my new wheels & tyres and drag my box of shiny new Tiagra parts out of the shed and start fitting them

I like your attitude Bob, always a silver lining!
I used to work with a colleague called Rod from the US and he was the most positive person in the world! Once a sales rep rang him up and the conversation went like this:
Rep: "I've got a problem Rod" Rod: "Put the phone down and call me back when you have an opportunity" Rep calls back: "Rod, i've got an opportunity to order a new company car"
Honestly, this is true.
Anyway, as long as you are OK that is the main thing, could have been nasty. Apart from the obvious tyre issues, the T3 looks fine from your photo.

Wow, that really could of been nasty had you been doing some serious speed. So all that damage was caused by the road? Nothing to do with the tyre right?
What are you upgrading to?

I have no idea why the rear blew unless I went over something sharp like some glass, was just building up speed on a downhill stretch when it popped and due to the speed I couldn't stop quick enough to prevent damage to the rim cause by the rough road surface. Being a folding tyre I dont think helped much, I wonder if it was a normal tyre it would have maybe prevented the damage to the rim as the tube may not have dropped out. Anyway work has started on my rebuild but has ground to a halt as I may not be able to order the wheels due to a bid on ebay for a gps cycle computer. If I fail in the auction then I can order them tonight.
